Regular meditation is a technique designed to calm the activity of the mind. When a state of calmness is achieved we become more resilient to disturbances from the outside. During meditation we move from thinking, to feeling and eventually being, in a restful state within ourselves. When the mind is at rest and balanced, all bodily functions are balanced likewise. Eventually this naturally leads to clarity of the mind and a greater sense of well-being.

From there higher spiritual goals may be set and achieved. Thus meditation is also an important tool for development of our human potential. Imagine that all people on our globe learned to appreciate the value of practicing meditation. Then peace would finally descend upon our precious Earth.
